Casual wine and chocolate pairing at our Downtown Hilo cafe (277 Keawe St, Hilo, HI 96720) that pairs 5 red wines with 5 Hawaii-grown dark chocolates from various Big Island regions and farms..
Our guide will present each attendee with a tasting mat that pairs a fantastic red wine with the characteristics that we find best suit the Hawaii chocolate region.
We offer chocolate from beans grown and fermented in Puna, Kona, Hamakua, Hakalau, Kohala, and/or Waipio Valley.
Based on their terroir (flavors imbued from the soils and climate and micro-organisms), the chocolate varies widely with fudgey, tart, berries, smokey and other flavors that are best served with zinfandels, pinots, cabernets, and others.
Each wine is poured into 2oz servings, with 5 servings the equivalent of two glasses of wine.
We can seat in groups of 2, 4, 6 at tables or singles at the bar.
Our guide will get you started and introduce each wine and chocolate as you explore with your company or our staff the flavors and regions.
Puna Chocolate Company has been growing chocolate sine 2013 starting in Puna District and expanding across Big Island with six farms across the island.
